mikkel@bechsolutions.dkIf you're reporting a bug, it helps to include:
- your phone model and its iOS or Android version,

- the place and time it's about,
- and a screenshot, if you can.

Using the app
What does the timeline show?
The timeline runs from an hour ago to 90 minutes ahead, in 5-minute steps. It shows where the rain has been and where it's heading.
Below the map it says what the picture is based on: “Measured · DMI radar” for the past hour, “Nowcast · DMI radar” for roughly the next half hour, and otherwise the model you have chosen.
Is it radar?
Yes, for the first hour. The map shows DMI's radar, which measures the rain every 5 minutes at 500 m resolution. The past hour is measured. For roughly the next half hour we carry the radar picture forward in the direction the rain is moving. After that the map blends smoothly into the weather model you have chosen, and from +60 minutes to +90 it is the model alone.
The radar covers Denmark and the surrounding waters. Further away, the models carry the whole timeline. Both nowcasts and forecasts are estimates and can be a little off in both timing and place.
Don't rely on the app when a lot is at stake. For official weather warnings, see DMI at dmi.dk.
What does “Updated 4 min ago” mean?
The app always shows how old the rain data is. If it is more than 30 minutes old, the label turns into a plain warning, such as “Old data · 47 min”. That usually means your phone has lost its connection.
What does “the models agree” mean?
The app says in words how sure the answer is: “seen on DMI radar” when the rain has already been measured, and with Blend “the models agree”, “the models partly agree” or “uncertain, the models disagree”. The words come from Blend's agreement score.
The map shows rain where it's dry (or the other way round)
The models don't always agree. Tap the source chip in the top-left of the map and try another source. DMI, MET Norway and ECMWF are free. With Regnkort Plus you also get Blend, which weights several weather models together and shows how much they agree.
The dot showing where I am is missing
The app needs permission to use your location while you're using it.
iPhone: Open Settings > Regnkort > Location and choose “While Using the App”.
Android: Open Settings > Apps > Regnkort > Permissions > Location and allow access while the app is in use. The exact names can vary a little between phones.
Then go back to the app and tap the arrow button in the top-right of the map. The app reads your location when you tap that button, and when you open the app if you have a rain alert for your location. Never in the background.
You can use the map and search without giving location access.
Where does the app work?
Regnkort is built for Denmark and the Nordics. DMI's radar covers Denmark and the surrounding waters, and the weather models behind it are northern European. That's where the forecasts are best.
We keep score
It's easy to promise accurate forecasts. Instead, we show how often ours held, even when the numbers aren't flattering.
We keep a record of what the forecast said about rain 30 minutes ahead, for fixed points in Danish cities. When the time comes, we look up what DMI's radar measured at that point. The numbers come from the radar, not from our users' data.
- When we said rain, it came: when the forecast said rain, how often did it come?
- Of the rain, we saw coming: of the rain that actually fell, how much had the forecast seen coming?
Still collecting data
The numbers appear here as soon as there is enough to go on.
| Source | When we said rain, it came | Of the rain, we saw coming |
|---|
With fewer than 10 cases to go on, we show no percentage, because the number would mean nothing. The radar isn't perfect either, so read the numbers as an honest guide, not a guarantee.
Rain alerts
How do I get a rain alert?
Everyone gets one free alert. It can follow your location, which the app updates whenever you open it, or one place you choose, such as home. You choose whether to hear 10, 15 or 30 minutes before the rain. We never alert you when it is already raining.
To get alerts, Regnkort needs permission to send notifications on your phone.
What can alerts do with Plus?
- alerts for all your saved places,
- a heads-up when the rain stops,
- alerts only when the forecast is confident,
- quiet hours when you won't be disturbed,
- Blend as the alert's source,
- scheduled checks, such as “Weekdays at 16:15: will the ride home be dry?”. You get an answer every time, even when the answer is yes.
How do I turn alerts off?
Switch the alert off in the app. Once you have no alerts left, we delete the key we use to send notifications to your phone. An alert's place is deleted together with the alert.
If you just want some peace for a while, turn notifications off in your phone's settings. iPhone: Settings > Notifications > Regnkort. Android: Settings > Apps > Regnkort > Notifications.
I didn't get an alert
First check that notifications for Regnkort are on in your phone's settings. Also remember that we don't alert you when it is already raining, and that an alert for your location uses the location the app had when you last opened it.
An alert is based on a forecast and can be wrong. It isn't an official weather warning. For those, see DMI at dmi.dk.
Regnkort Plus
What do I get with Regnkort Plus?
Today, Plus gives you:
- Blend, where several weather models are weighted together and the app tells you in words how much they agree,
- a spread view showing how far the individual sources differ,
- saved places on the “Spots” tab, showing the next 90 minutes for each place. You can save up to 100,
- alerts for all your places, smart alerts and scheduled checks,
- rain on your bike route: pick A and B and see the rain on the ride if you leave now, in 10 or in 20 minutes, plus the best dry window in the next 2 hours. The ride is worked out as the straight line between the two places at cycling speed, not as turn-by-turn directions.
The radar, the map, the free sources and one rain alert stay free.
How do I buy Plus?
Go to the “Plus” tab in the app and tap “Get Regnkort Plus”. You see the price before you buy, and you pay through the App Store or Google Play. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it.
I have a new phone. How do I get Plus back?
Install Regnkort, go to the “Plus” tab and tap “Restore purchase”. You need to be signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you bought it with.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On iPhone, cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends; on Android, before the renewal date. Otherwise it renews. You keep Plus for the rest of the period you've paid for.
iPhone: Open Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > Regnkort and tap “Cancel Subscription”.
Android: Open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then choose Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Regnkort > Cancel subscription.
You can also tap “Manage subscription” on the “Plus” tab in the app when you have Plus.
Note: deleting the app or your data does not cancel the subscription.
Can I get a refund?
As a consumer in the EU, you can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days.
- iPhone: Apple handles refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Android: we sell Google Play purchases ourselves. Withdraw in your Play Store order history, or email us that you withdraw, with the order ID from your receipt (it starts with “GPA.”). We then refund the full amount no later than 14 days after we receive your message.
If Plus doesn't work as described, write to us and we'll sort it out.
Are widgets coming?
Widgets and a Live Activity are on the way, but not available yet. Rain alerts are already here, see “Rain alerts” above.
Your data
Do I need an account?
No. There's no login, no ads and no tracking. The app creates a random ID by itself so it can talk to our server, and so your Plus subscription stays tied to your install.
How do I delete my data?
Go to the “Plus” tab, scroll to the bottom and tap “Delete my data”. Once you confirm, we immediately delete your record, saved places, alerts and Plus status from our server and ask RevenueCat to delete your purchase data. The app then starts over as a fresh install.
If you only delete the app, most of what's on your phone disappears, but an iPhone may keep the app's ID. What's left on our server belongs to a random ID, not to your name, and we delete it once the app has had no contact with us for 12 months. So use “Delete my data” before deleting the app if you want to be sure everything is gone.
If you've already deleted the app, or want access to or a copy of your data, write to mikkel@bechsolutions.dk. If you have Plus, send the order ID from your Apple or Google receipt. We reply within one month of receiving your email.
Remember that deleting your data doesn't cancel your subscription. Do that in the App Store or Google Play.
